A stud with a short length of paperclip chain hanging off it — enough movement to catch the eye when you turn your head, not so much that it swings around all day.

Two-tone, which is the useful part: it sits happily against gold or silver, so it goes with whatever else you already have on. The stud fitting keeps it secure where a hook would wander.
